The New King Jame s Version® is a modernization of the King James Version of 1611, preserving the KJV's dignified style while replacing words and expressions no longer easily understood. The NKJV Wide-Margin Reference Bible is based upon Cambridge's NKJV Pitt Minion Reference Edition. The layout and pagination of the Bible text are the same in both editions, but in the Wide-Margin Edition the text is enlarged and has generous, wide margins for the reader's own insights and notes.

It is printed on carefully chosen Bible paper, slightly thicker than normal to allow for handwritten notes. Like all Cambridge Bibles, this edition is Smyth-sewn for long life, and its pages lie flat when the book is open. It features red-letter text for the words of Christ, full cross-references, an extensive concordance, extra ruled pages for notes, and fifteen maps. There are two ribbon markers to keep multiple places in the Bible.
