Maximum Planet Collector's Edition (Max Planet)

Along with Max Garden Collector's Edition and Maximum Son, Max Planet Collector's Edition is part of 2004's Anthology Series.

This is a great collection of surprising versions of songs and demo versions of other songs that was recorded at the same time that Larry was making Only Visiting this Planet, plus two unreleased archive bonus tracks.

Like Maximum Garden, this is a similar idea to The Beatles' Anthology, where classic Larry Norman sessions are picked apart and you can hear alternative takes, mixes, and vocals for classic Norman albums. Only Visiting this Planet stands as an absolute classic in Christian music, and for fans of the man, this is an intriguing peek behind The Wizard of Oz's curtain.

You get master instrumental takes, sometimes with guide vocals, and the version of "Why Don't You Look into Jesus" is perfect for Larryaoke-style sing-alongs. There's an interesting mix of "Why Should the Devil Have All the Good Music" with all of Larry's different vocal takes faded up simultaneously!

First takes, run-throughs with guide vocals, attempts at master takes, and occasional studio jams and experiments are all here. There are even some live versions of these songs as bonus cuts. For rabid Larry fans, this will be an enjoyable educational listen.
